Ukraine Signs Drone Deals With Norway and Finland

During the Ukraine-Nordic-Baltic Eight summit in Kyiv, Ukraine signed a strategic defense technology agreement with Norway known as the Drone Deal. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the agreement establishes a foundation for the joint production and development of unmanned systems. As part of the broader partnership, Norway committed approximately $9 billion in support for 2027 through the Nansen program.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb also announced in Kyiv that Finland and Ukraine expect to finalize a drone cooperation agreement soon. Stubb indicated that 90 percent of Finland's drone production would be allocated to Ukraine. To facilitate this, Finnish defense companies Patria, Insta, and Boomeranger signed memorandums of understanding with Ukrainian firms for joint production.

These agreements coincided with Ukraine's Independence Day and a meeting of the coalition of the willing in the capital. The diplomatic push was accompanied by a public demonstration of support for Ukraine at Senate Square in Helsinki.
