Tinubu Summons Osun APC Leaders to Resolve Party Rifts
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with 76 APC leaders from Osun State to address internal divisions ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu summoned 76 leaders of the All Progressives Congress from Osun State to the Presidential Villa in Abuja to resolve internal party divisions. The emergency meeting sought to stabilize the party before the August 15 governorship election and prevent a recurrence of losses from the 2022 governorship and 2023 general elections.
The intervention followed a security report from National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, which detailed widespread discontent among influential party members. These leaders alleged they were sidelined in party affairs and the campaign for candidate Bola Oyebamiji. Specifically, aggrieved members claimed that federal appointments for the state primarily benefited associates of Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola.
During the meeting, coordinated by APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, Tinubu urged the leaders to settle their differences. He assured the group that future opportunities at both state and federal levels would be available if the party maintained unity during the election cycle.
