Regional Leaders Endorse President Bola Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

Political leaders from several geopolitical zones have coalesced around Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support his 2027 re-election bid. Five governors from the South-East region, representing various political parties, resolved in Owerri to back the president based on developmental interventions. Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, cited the establishment of the South East Development Commission, the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt-Aba rail line, and the construction of Second Niger Bridge access roads as primary drivers for the decision.

Parallel support emerged in Abuja, where former Governor Emmanuel Udom praised the president's macroeconomic reforms. Subsequently, a delegation of North-East leaders, including Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babagana Kingibe, visited the Presidential Villa to pledge grassroots mobilization for the All Progressives Congress. These leaders specifically commended the retention of Vice President Kashim Shettima as running mate and federal investments in the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Expressway.

President Tinubu described the endorsements as reassuring and claimed the Nigerian economy is already stabilized. In the South-East, Governor Uzodimma used the momentum to call for the strict implementation of the Imo Charter of Equity to ensure fair power rotation for his successor, dismissing claims of regional marginalization as propaganda.
