South-East Governors Back President Bola Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

Five South-East governors and former Governor Emmanuel Udom pledged support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, citing infrastructure and macroeconomic reforms.

Five governors from Nigeria's South-East region have resolved to support the 2027 re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, announced the decision during a meeting in Owerri. He stated that the governors, who represent different political parties, reached the agreement based on the current administration's developmental interventions.

Uzodimma cited several key projects as the basis for this support, including the establishment of the South East Development Commission and the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt–Aba rail line. The group also highlighted road infrastructure improvements, specifically the Second Niger Bridge access roads.

Parallel to the regional forum's decision, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State Emmanuel Udom declared his own support for the president's second term during a press encounter in Abuja. Udom praised the macroeconomic reforms and vision currently being implemented by the administration.
