Nvidia Announces $2 Billion Investment in European AI

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced $2 billion in upcoming European AI investments and funding for four French startups during a multi-city tour.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced in Paris that the company will unveil $2 billion in European AI investments within the next week. This new commitment follows $8 billion deployed across Europe over the past year. As part of the initiative, Huang announced funding for four French startups: Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic.

During a tour including Paris, London, and Berlin, Huang urged Europe to "get in the race," arguing that open-source AI models are the most effective way for the continent to achieve technological sovereignty and close the gap with U.S. developers. These announcements precede Nvidia's GTC conference in Berlin, scheduled for October 20 to 22.

Huang's push for expansion comes as European regulators express skepticism regarding the energy demands of data centers and the risks of autonomous AI agents. Huang has resisted calls to slow development, maintaining that the technology strengthens economies. Nvidia also continues its partnership with Mistral AI, which recently trained its latest model using 4,000 Grace Blackwell GPUs in European data centers.
