President Tinubu Reinstates Mohammed Danjuma as Finance Secretary
President Bola Tinubu reinstated Mohammed Danjuma as Permanent Secretary of Finance (Special Duties) following a two-month suspension linked to a corruption investigation.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reinstated Mohammed Danjuma as the Permanent Secretary of Finance (Special Duties) effective October 21, 2026. The move ends a suspension that began on August 21, 2026, after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission reported on the activities of a purported government agency known as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.
Investigators alleged that George Buchi Nwabueze promoted the organization and that public servants within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation were involved. Following a period of due diligence, the president approved the lifting of the suspension.
Olumuyiwa Abel, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, formally conveyed the presidential approval in a letter dated October 22, 2026.
