The Chinese government has established the National Data Group Co, a state-owned enterprise headquartered in the Xiongan New Area of Hebei province. The company is tasked with managing national data resources to unlock the value of data elements and foster a comprehensive national data industry ecosystem.
Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the launch ceremony on Tuesday, where he described the creation of the company as a "major strategic decision" by party leadership under President Xi Jinping. The initiative is designed to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence and bolster the digital economy.
By centralizing the management of data resources, the government aims to build new national competitive advantages. This strategic move is intended to ensure China seizes the initiative in the global race for AI development.
