John Oliver Criticizes Trump Justice Department Purge and Priorities

Comedian John Oliver criticized the United States Department of Justice under Donald Trump, alleging the institution has been infected by maniacs. Oliver detailed a systemic purge of approximately 4,000 officials, noting that only 1,400 replacements were hired, which he claims led to a decline in recruitment standards.

According to Oliver, Attorney General Pam Bondi shifted the department's focus to pursue the president's personal vendettas against figures including James Comey, Letitia James, and Adam Schiff. The department has reportedly shut down 23,000 investigations, with the civil rights division dropping police department probes to prioritize voter fraud cases and university discrimination claims.

Oliver also highlighted a failed prosecution led by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro against a man who vandalized the president's reflecting pool. Donald Trump later described Pirro's performance in that case as having "folded like an umbrella."
