Kashim Shettima Campaigns for Tinubu Re-election in Calabar
Vice President Kashim Shettima urged voters in Cross River State to renew the mandates of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu in the 2027 elections.
Vice President Kashim Shettima campaigned for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a presidential rally at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Cross River State, on November 2, 2026. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima urged voters to renew the mandates of both the president and Governor Bassey Otu in the 2027 elections.
Shettima defended the administration's economic reforms, acknowledging they have been painful but arguing that the most difficult phase of the economic reset is complete. He compared President Tinubu's leadership to that of Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew, asserting that national transformation requires difficult decisions for long-term benefit. He promised that a second term would be a period of harvest and prosperity for Nigerians.
During the rally, Shettima and Governor Otu highlighted several federal projects designed to transform the regional economy. These include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the approved Bakassi Deep Seaport, and the proposed siting of the Gulf of Guinea Commission Secretariat in Calabar. Shettima also addressed the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a key intervention for higher education access and pledged to resolve a dispute over 46 oil wells to strengthen the state's maritime identity.
