Tinubu Builds 2027 Campaign as Opposition Vows to Block Re-election
President Bola Tinubu is mobilizing regional campaign councils and new strategists for 2027 while opposition leaders claim they have a secret strategy to prevent his second term.
President Bola Tinubu is accelerating mobilization for the 2027 general election through strategic appointments and regional structures. In Katsina State, the All Progressives Congress appointed Governor Dikko Radda as chairman of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council. Nationally, the Tinubu Must Stay Movement and the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration appointed Marcel Ngogbehei, a former strategist for Peter Obi, as Director-General of their alliance.
Opposition forces are simultaneously organizing to challenge the president's bid. Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, stated that the party has a strategy to prevent Tinubu from winning a second term, though he declined to disclose specific tactical details. Momodu alleged that governors, judges, and legislators are intimidated by the president and questioned the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission due to alleged regional bias in appointments.
Critics have also targeted the president's campaign style. Former NERC Chairman Sam Amadi accused Tinubu of avoiding the stress of a traditional campaign after the president indicated he might not visit every state. Amadi warned that relying on governors to secure votes could further damage Nigerian democracy.
