Poll Shows Majority of Americans Oppose Iran War
Donald Trump faces a 69% disapproval rating regarding his war with Iran and low public confidence in his ability to secure a nuclear deal.
A Washington Post-Ipsos poll released on July 15, 2026, reveals deep public dissatisfaction with Donald Trump regarding his management of the economy and the conflict with Iran. The survey indicates that 68% of Americans believe the war in Iran is not worth fighting, while his specific disapproval rating concerning the conflict has reached 69%.
Public confidence in the president's diplomatic capabilities is similarly low. Only 23% of respondents believe Trump will produce a nuclear deal with Iran superior to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action negotiated by Barack Obama. In contrast, 37% of Americans believe he will produce a worse agreement.
Trump's overall approval rating remains below 40%. The poll attributes this decline to citizen concerns over inflation, the rising cost of living, and the perceived ineffectiveness of current diplomatic efforts to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
