Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh Outlines AI-Driven Economic Growth

Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh detailed an investment boom driven by artificial intelligence and record corporate profits during a keynote speech in Jackson Hole.

Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh detailed the economic indicators guiding current policy during a keynote speech in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Warsh highlighted a significant investment boom driven by artificial intelligence, stating that more than half of this year's capital expenditure growth is linked to AI infrastructure.

Warsh reported that corporate profit margins have reached record highs and that credit and loan markets show few signs of policy restraint. He characterized the labor market as consistent with full employment, noting that people who want to work are generally holding or finding jobs.

Regarding inflation, Warsh acknowledged that it remains above the 2% target but noted a cooling trend. The percentage of goods and services with price increases above 3% has dropped to 54% from post-pandemic highs of 77%. While he stated that inflation expectations remain well anchored, he cautioned that these measures require close monitoring.
