Uzbekistan Donates Traditional Gazebos for Trump's National Garden
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev donated traditional wood-carved gazebos to President Donald Trump for exhibition in West Potomac Park as part of a planned National Garden of American Heroes.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan donated traditional, wood-carved gazebos to President Donald Trump for exhibition in West Potomac Park. The structures are intended for the National Garden of American Heroes, a planned project that would feature an amphitheater, reflecting pools, and 250 life-size statues of notable Americans.
While the United States Department of the Interior is managing the installation of the gazebos, the United States Department of Justice informed a federal court that the garden remains a preliminary concept.
The gift coincides with strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations. The United States and Uzbekistan have accelerated negotiations for a trade and investment deal, with Uzbekistan committing to lower tariffs on U.S. goods while the U.S. supports Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization. The two leaders previously announced $32 billion in bilateral commercial deals, which include an $8 billion purchase of Boeing aircraft by Uzbekistan.
