Donald Trump Schedules Midterm Rallies in Oklahoma and Alabama

President Donald Trump will hold two midterm campaign rallies next week to drive Republican base turnout. On October 1, Trump will appear at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant, Oklahoma, alongside Republican gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 2 p.m.

On October 2, Trump will headline a rally at the Mitchell Center on the University of South Alabama campus in Mobile, Alabama. The event starts at 6 p.m., though reports differ on whether doors open at 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. Trump will appear with U.S. Representative and Senate candidate Barry Moore. The Alabama visit coincides with a groundbreaking for the Mobile River Bridge, a $2.52 billion federal loan project.

Both events are hosted by the Trump 47 Committee, a joint fundraising vehicle with the Republican National Committee. These visits to Republican strongholds occur as the GOP faces challenges in swing states; the Cook Political Report recently shifted Senate races in Kansas and South Carolina toward Democrats. While Republicans maintain Trump is the most effective tool for maximizing turnout, some GOP candidates in battleground states are distancing themselves from him. Additionally, three Republican senators have requested an ethics inquiry into Donald Trump Jr. regarding a wedding after-party funded by a Russian businessman.
