Trump Announces $500 Billion Stargate AI Infrastructure Project
President Donald Trump announced the Stargate initiative as major tech firms execute billions in partnerships to scale artificial intelligence infrastructure.
President Donald Trump announced Stargate, a joint venture between OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank projected to invest $500 billion in United States AI infrastructure. This initiative coincides with a broader industry shift from AI testing to large-scale execution through multi-billion-dollar hardware and software deals.
Nvidia is central to these developments, pledging up to $100 billion to support OpenAI's data center and energy capacity, investing $5 billion in Intel for custom x86 CPUs and SOCs, and partnering with Fujitsu to link MONAKA CPUs with Nvidia GPUs via NVLink Fusion for robotics and manufacturing. OpenAI has further secured custom chips from AMD starting in late 2026 and computing capacity contracts through CoreWeave.
Other major investments include Amazon's $8 billion total investment in Anthropic, which has also partnered with IBM to embed Claude models into software-development environments. Additionally, Tesla signed a $16.5 billion chip deal with Samsung, and Google entered a $2.4 billion agreement with Windsurf. Oracle expanded its alliance with EPAM Systems to migrate legacy workloads for the healthcare, insurance, and financial sectors. While these partnerships accelerate adoption, high costs related to compliance, monitoring, and integration remain significant barriers to deployment.
