Adam Hamilton Leads Polls in Competitive Kansas Senate Race

Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton has emerged as a frontrunner in a competitive U.S. Senate race in Kansas, leading several polls against incumbent Republican Senator Roger Marshall. The shift is attributed to voter backlash over rising fuel prices and tariffs associated with President Donald Trump's second-term agenda. In response, President Trump announced he will campaign in Wichita next week to support Marshall and other Republican candidates.

Hamilton is campaigning on a moderate platform, proposing bipartisan policies such as banning lawmakers from trading stocks and requiring data centers to pay for their own energy. He has explicitly rejected far-left labels, positioning himself as a leader seeking compromise and human decency. He has earned endorsements from Governor Laura Kelly, former Democratic Governors Mark Parkinson, Kathleen Sebelius, and John Carlin, as well as former Republican Governors Mike Hayden and Bill Graves.

Senator Roger Marshall has contested this moderate image, characterizing Hamilton as a "snake oil salesman" and a "radical liberal" who would harm the state's energy and agriculture industries. Marshall's campaign highlights Hamilton's past support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to frame him as out of touch with Kansas voters. Former Senator and Governor Sam Brownback has endorsed Marshall, claiming voters face a choice between the incumbent and a liberal who would obstruct judicial nominees.

Parallel to the Senate race, Republicans are attempting to retake the governor's office following the term-limited tenure of Laura Kelly. State Senate President Ty Masterson currently leads in polls against Democratic state Senator Cindy Holscher, focusing his campaign on affordability and lower energy prices.
