Bola Tinubu Criticizes Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar in Akwa Ibom
President Bola Tinubu questioned the leadership records and political loyalty of rivals Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar during a campaign rally in Uyo.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu criticized the leadership credentials of political rivals Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar during an All Progressives Congress rally in Uyo on November 6, 2026. Speaking at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Tinubu targeted Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, by accusing him of failing to address gully erosion during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
Tinubu contrasted Obi's record with his own time as governor of Lagos, claiming he successfully confronted the Atlantic Ocean. He also questioned the leadership character of Atiku Abubakar, who recently joined the African Democratic Congress, suggesting that defections from the Peoples Democratic Party demonstrate a lack of political loyalty.
The remarks occurred during a visit to Akwa Ibom State to inaugurate projects under the administration of Governor Umo Eno. The confrontation comes as opposition figures reorganize their party affiliations in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
