Putin Orders State Takeover of Unprotected Critical Infrastructure

President Vladimir Putin issued a presidential order on Monday authorizing the state to take temporary control of critical infrastructure facilities that fail to implement sufficient security measures against Ukrainian drone attacks. The decree specifically targets energy complexes, industrial sites, logistics points, and communication and utility infrastructure that violate security requirements. The Russian government will determine the duration of this temporary management based on presidential instructions.

This policy shift follows a series of intensified Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries, ports, and commercial warehouses designed to increase the economic cost of the invasion. These attacks have already resulted in gasoline shortages and disrupted grain exports.

Private sector logistics have also been impacted. E-commerce companies Wildberries and Ozon were targeted, with Ozon reporting a drone attack on its logistics center on Monday. Wildberries reportedly lost 17% of its warehouse capacity, leading the Moscow government to prepare support measures for affected sellers.
