Governor Alex Otti Declines to Oppose Tinubu 2027 Bid

Abia State Governor Alex Otti stated in an interview with Arise Television that he is not in a position to oppose President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. Otti argued that as a governor and member of the National Economic Council, opposing the president while remaining part of the government would drive the administration toward "implosion."

Otti maintained that political disagreements should be addressed internally during official meetings rather than through public opposition. He expressed support for the presidency, specifically citing the removal of the fuel subsidy as a policy that resonates with his thinking.

Despite these comments, Otti distinguished his personal stance from the internal processes of the Labour Party. He rejected suggestions that Tinubu is the Labour Party's candidate, asserting that the party has its own presidential candidate for the 2027 election. He further dismissed claims that his position is a "comfortable arrangement" with the ruling All Progressives Congress.
