Amarinder Singh Reaffirms BJP Commitment After Rahul Gandhi Praise
Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh reaffirmed his allegiance to the BJP after Rahul Gandhi named him his favorite BJP politician.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi identified former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as his favorite politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During an Instagram 'Ask Me Anything' session aimed at Gen Z outreach, Gandhi cited Singh's expertise in military history and their positive personal rapport as the reasons for his choice.
Amarinder Singh responded by acknowledging his lifelong personal bonds with the Gandhi family, noting he has known Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi since childhood and was a classmate of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Despite these ties, Singh reaffirmed his political commitment to the BJP.
Singh left the Indian National Congress in 2021 and merged his Punjab Lok Congress with the BJP in September 2022. Although he had previously criticized the BJP's approach as rigid in December 2025, he maintained that his current political allegiance remains with the party.
