Nigerian Officials Predict Bola Tinubu Win in 2027 Election

Several Nigerian political figures have projected a victory for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Kassim Afegbua, the Edo State Commissioner for Information, described the upcoming contest as a three horse race, predicting Tinubu will finish first, followed by Atiku Abubakar in second and Peter Obi in third. Afegbua stated these projections are based on empirical analysis and research, noting that the All Progressives Congress is working to address its electoral weaknesses.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose echoed this sentiment, arguing that the opposition lacks the political structure in the Southwest to challenge the president. Meanwhile, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the president, criticized Abubakar and Obi, claiming they badly want the presidency. This political support follows praise from Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, who thanked Tinubu for removing fuel subsidies and democratizing the exchange rate to support his refinery.

In a separate regional development, Kenyan Member of Parliament Babu Owino endorsed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the 2027 presidential candidate for the Linda Mwananchi movement. Owino pledged to mobilize approximately 2.5 million registered voters in Nairobi to support Sifuna's bid while announcing his own intention to run for Nairobi governor.
