French Diplomat and EU Trade Chief Visit Beijing
Emmanuel Bonne and EU Commissioner Maros Sefcovic visit Beijing to stabilize diplomatic relations and address a daily trade deficit exceeding 1 billion euros.
Diplomatic adviser to the French president Emmanuel Bonne will begin a five-day strategic visit to China on Friday to coordinate on bilateral and multilateral issues. Foreign Minister Wang Yi will lead the dialogue, which seeks to stabilize relations between China, France, and the European Union.
Simultaneously, European Union Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic is holding negotiations in Beijing with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao. These talks focus on market access, trade restrictions, and the European Union's trade deficit with China, which currently exceeds 1 billion euros per day.
While France and Germany have previously pushed the European Commission to create new trade instruments to manage these economic challenges, the Government of China maintains that the highly integrated trade relationship should be managed through continued dialogue.
