APC Chairman Orders Appointees to Mobilize 2027 Votes

Nentawe Yilwatda warned President Tinubu's political appointees to mobilize grassroots support for the 2027 elections or vacate their positions.

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda ordered political appointees in President Bola Tinubu's administration to mobilize grassroots support for the party ahead of the 2027 general election or vacate their positions. During a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday with the Progressive Local Government Chairmen’s Forum, Yilwatda rejected the idea that government officials can operate solely as detached technocrats, asserting that anyone holding a political appointment is inherently a politician.

Yilwatda directed local government chairmen to identify and report officials who maintain administrative competence but fail to deliver political results within their home wards. The chairman emphasized that the party intends to build a strong partnership to ensure a victory in 2027.

The Progressive Local Government Chairmen’s Forum, led by Mustafa Jibrin, reported support from 31 state governors and more than 685 local government chairmen. The group aims to secure at least 70 percent of the vote in 2027 and plans to organize a mass endorsement rally for President Tinubu's re-election in Abuja.
