Trump Pressures U.S. Attorney to Restore Vandalism Charges

Donald Trump is pressuring U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro to reverse her decision to drop felony charges against David Hearn, a former Olympian accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Pirro's office dismissed the charges after determining that flawed installation of the pool's refurbished blue lining, completed under the Trump administration, made it difficult to prove the damage resulted from vandalism rather than contractor error.
Trump criticized Pirro in a Truth Social post, urging her to re-examine the case and asserting that witnesses saw the material being cut with a knife. He further suggested to reporters that Pirro choked under pressure and stated he had not yet determined her fate.
