FBI Issues Classified Patel Report on Institutional Failures

The FBI released a classified report examining past institutional shortcomings as Director Kash Patel continues to terminate agents he claims politicized the agency.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a classified internal document known as the Patel Report to its employees. The report examines periods in the bureau's history where the institution fell short, with an accompanying internal message stating the document aims to promote organizational accountability and rebuild public trust.

Director Kash Patel commissioned the report as part of a broader effort to remove agents he claims politicized the agency. Although Patel pledged during his confirmation hearing not to look backward, he has since overseen the termination of employees involved in past investigations of Donald Trump, those who participated in 2020 racial justice protests, and those who contributed to a memo on Catholic extremism.

Co-deputy directors Christopher Raia and Andrew Bailey co-signed the internal message regarding the report. Bailey resigned his position this week, with his final day occurring on Friday. Critics argue that the report and the sweeping terminations are attempts to weaponize the FBI and rewrite history to favor President Donald Trump.
