Trump Administration Demands Unredacted Voter Rolls From 15 States
The Trump administration is filing lawsuits and issuing demands for sensitive voter data from 15 battleground states to centralize federal election control.
The Donald Trump administration is attempting to centralize control over federal elections by aggressively seeking unredacted voter rolls and election materials from 15 battleground states. Utilizing the National Voter Registration Act as justification, the United States Department of Justice has filed over 20 lawsuits and issued sweeping demands for sensitive personal data, including birth dates and partial Social Security numbers.
To enforce these demands, the administration has required states to remove allegedly ineligible voters within a 45-day window and plans to cross-reference voter rolls with the federal SAVE immigration database. Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly suggested easing immigration enforcement in Minnesota as a trade for the requested voter data.
Several states, including California, Georgia, Michigan, and Oregon, have successfully rebuffed these federal demands through administrative refusals or court actions. Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have convened briefings with election officials from all 50 states to discuss preparations for the midterm elections.
