Trump and Allies Allege Fraud Amid New York Voting Failures

President Donald Trump and Republican allies alleged election interference following voting machine failures in New York and technical disruptions across several states.

President Donald Trump and several Republican figures alleged widespread election interference on November 3, 2026, following technical failures in New York and weather-related disruptions in other states. In Westchester County, New York, ballot scanners rejected paper ballots in a contested House race between Republican Mike Lawler and Democrat Cait Conley. New York state officials attributed the failure to outdated programming and a failure to apply a barcode change across all districts.

Republican influencers and officials seized on the malfunctions. Katie Miller and Laura Loomer claimed Democrats were attempting to steal the election, while Representative Claudia Tenney accused Democrats of trying to cheat. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins called the situation unacceptable and pledged a bipartisan review. Representative Mike Lawler dismissed the fraud claims, stating there were no shenanigans and assuring voters that all ballots would be counted centrally under bipartisan observation.

Simultaneously, flooding in Florida and power outages in Maricopa County, Arizona, caused temporary polling closures. Trump also posted unsubstantiated claims of fraud involving Democratic lawyers in Alaska. Amid these events, Trump engaged in a public dispute on Truth Social with Representative Ted Lieu. Lieu had urged voters to repudiate Trump over claims the president wanted to rename the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after himself; Trump responded by calling Lieu a fraud and asserting the comment was a joke.
