Donald Trump Directs White House South Lawn Restoration

President Donald Trump has frequently touted his expertise in turfgrass management during his second term, mentioning the subject in at least 45 public events and interviews over the last 18 months. He attributes this knowledge to his history as a real estate developer and owner of multiple golf courses, claiming to know more about grass than any other human being.

This focus on landscaping coincides with broader efforts to revamp the White House and Washington, D.C., which include the installation of a new helicopter landing pad on the South Lawn and a stone patio in the Rose Garden. Following a UFC event held to mark his 80th birthday, the South Lawn required significant restoration.

To facilitate the repairs, the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company donated $1 million in monetary and product support to the National Park Service. Trump worked directly with the company's research fellow to select a custom blend of Kentucky bluegrasses and tall fescues. The president stated he wanted an aesthetic comparable to his own Trump National Golf Club and the Augusta National Golf Club.
