Türkiye and Uzbekistan Sign Trade Deals to Reach $10 Billion Goal
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed five bilateral agreements in Ankara to expand preferential trade and strengthen social security cooperation.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye signed five bilateral agreements in Ankara on October 29, 2026. The deals aim to increase annual bilateral trade from approximately $3.1 billion to $5 billion in the short term and $10 billion in the medium term.
A primary trade protocol expands preferential treatment by adding eight products to the existing list of 12 for each nation. Other agreements establish a High-Level Business Support Council, a bilateral social security framework, and a customs data-sharing protocol to reduce border delays for vehicles and goods. To implement these goals, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will lead a Turkish business delegation to Uzbekistan on November 18.
The bilateral meetings coincided with the 13th Organization of Turkic States summit in Ankara. During the summit, Mirziyoyev proposed the Turkic World – 100 initiative, which suggests 100 joint projects focused on green-energy equipment and rare mineral processing. He also advocated for the Middle Corridor's development as a unified economic system and the creation of an Organization of Turkic States Plus format for third-country engagement.
Summit participants adopted the Ankara Declaration and nominated Uzbekistan's Mirvokhid Azimov for secretary-general of the organization. Uzbekistan is scheduled to host the next summit in 2027.
