Adams Oshiomhole Defends Tinubu Over Nigeria Security Concerns
Senator Adams Oshiomhole defended President Bola Tinubu's resolve in tackling insecurity during a book launch in Abuja.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole defended President Bola Tinubu against allegations that a lack of political will has fueled Nigeria's rising insecurity. Speaking at a book launch in Abuja, Oshiomhole argued that the president has demonstrated a commitment to safety by declaring a state of emergency, replacing security chiefs, and approving supplementary budgets for security resources.
Oshiomhole asserted that the current security gaps result from operational failures at the battlefield level rather than a lack of leadership. He further proposed renaming the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, stating that the term civil does not align with the agency's actual role in combating armed criminals.
Commandant Olusola Odumosu, the author of the book being presented, highlighted the need for better inter-agency collaboration. Odumosu identified unhealthy rivalry between security agencies as a primary obstacle preventing effective national responses to security challenges.
