Markets Await US Jobs Report and Central Bank Decisions
Financial markets are monitoring U.S. payroll data and global inflation reports as Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh maintains a hawkish stance on price targets.
Financial markets are preparing for a series of critical economic indicators and central bank decisions during the week of August 29, 2026. The primary focus is the U.S. August nonfarm payrolls report due Friday. Analysts from Deutsche Bank and Wells Fargo project a rebound of 65,000 to 80,000 jobs following a contraction in July.
Kevin Warsh, Chair of the Federal Reserve, has provided hawkish guidance, stating that inflation remains above the 2 percent target and is the central bank's predominant focus. The Federal Reserve System is monitoring this inflation and labor market momentum ahead of its scheduled meeting on September 16. Additionally, Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller is scheduled for a moderated conversation on Thursday.
Global economic indicators are also expected this week. Eurozone inflation data is forecast to accelerate to 3.3%-3.4% on Tuesday, which may influence the European Central Bank to consider a September rate hike. The Bank of Canada will announce a monetary policy decision on Wednesday, while India, Australia, and Brazil are expected to release second-quarter GDP reports to gauge global economic resilience.
