Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) on October 8 at the Yashobhoomi India International Convention and Expo Centre in New Delhi. The four-day event, running through October 10, is jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications and the Cellular Operators Association of India under the theme Scale Without Boundaries.
During the ceremony, Modi characterized the Digital India initiative as a major effort toward the "democratisation of technology" and described the mobile phone as an essential tool for good governance. He reported that 5G connectivity now reaches every district in India, supported by over 5.5 lakh base stations, which has increased internet speeds tenfold since 2022. Modi also noted the completion of 25 years of his service as the Head of Government.
The congress focuses on four pillars: Srishti, Samvardhan, Sashakt, and Suraksha. While covering anchor sectors like 5G, 6G, AI networks, and semiconductors, the 2026 edition expanded into smart mobility and industrial robotics. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated the event marks India's transition from a services nation to a product nation.
