BJP Names Uttar Pradesh Executive Committee for 2027 Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party announced its Uttar Pradesh State Executive Committee to prepare for the 2027 Legislative Assembly elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party announced its Uttar Pradesh State Executive Committee on October 26, 2026, to begin preparations for the 2027 Legislative Assembly elections. The committee includes 548 members, 134 special invitees, and 30 permanent invitees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and veteran leader Murli Manohar Joshi.
The announcement followed a preparatory meeting in Lucknow led by State BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary and State General Secretary Dharampal Singh. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also named as permanent invitees to the committee.
The party is seeking a third consecutive term in the state after winning 255 seats in 2022. This organizational push follows a setback in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the Samajwadi Party secured more seats within the state. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya asserted that the party will return to power with a "massive majority" in 2027.
