Trump Demands Humanitarian Truce and Civilian Rule in Sudan

Donald Trump and the United States Department of State are demanding an immediate humanitarian truce and a transition to civilian government to end the conflict in Sudan. The U.S. government asserts that neither the Sudanese Armed Forces nor the Rapid Support Forces have made serious commitments to peace, noting that both factions have instead increased combat operations and drone strikes that have caused civilian deaths.

U.S. officials maintain that the leaders of these warring factions rule by force alone and are ineligible to govern the country.
