Amit Shah Condemns Mallikarjun Kharge Over Modi Family Remark
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sparked a political row after making a controversial remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's father during an event in Patna.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sparked a political row during a celebration of Dr. Shri Krishna Singh's 139th birth anniversary in Patna, Bihar. After an audience member shouted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not leave power, Kharge responded, "Modi ka baap bhi jayega" (Even PM Modi’s father will have to go). Following the remark, Congress workers reportedly assaulted the man and removed him from the venue.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other Bharatiya Janata Party leaders condemned the comment as indecent and a sign of ideological bankruptcy. Shah accused the Congress party of repeatedly using abusive language against the Prime Minister and his family, claiming the party has abandoned policy in favor of personal attacks due to electoral frustration. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta added that attacking the Prime Minister's family reflects ideological poverty rather than political courage.
In defense of the remark, Congress MP Pawan Khera claimed Kharge was referring to the Prime Minister's ideological mentors in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its chief Mohan Bhagwat, rather than his late father. During the same address, Kharge accused Prime Minister Modi of being a habitual liar regarding the recovery of black money and argued that the RSS ideology prevents peace in India, citing a purification ritual in Haldwani as an example of promoted untouchability.
