Trump Administration Launches si.gov to Promote Super Intelligence Term
The Trump administration launched si.gov and mandated the term super intelligence over artificial intelligence, prompting mixed rebranding responses from major tech companies.
The Trump administration launched si.gov on Tuesday, rebranding the White House website dedicated to artificial intelligence policies. The move follows a September 29 executive order in which President Donald Trump formalized a preference for the term super intelligence (SI), arguing that artificial intelligence makes the technology sound fake. Trump previously warned that those who do not adopt the rebrand would be considered an enemy of his White House.
Industry reactions to the mandate are divided. SpaceX rebranded its AI division to SpaceXSI, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella released a statement exclusively using the term super intelligence.
Conversely, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman ruled out rebranding his company, although he noted that the organization continues to discuss super intelligence.
