Erdogan Affirms National Unity Amid Israeli Strike in Syria

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that Türkiye will maintain its course toward stability despite regional tensions following an Israeli strike on a Syrian military airport.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared on August 25 that Türkiye will maintain its course toward national unity, peace, and stability despite regional incidents. Speaking during events in the eastern province of Bitlis, Erdogan asserted that no efforts could divert the country from its path and that the Turkish nation and humanity would be the ultimate winners.

These remarks follow an August 18 Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhur military airport in northwestern Syria. Israel claimed the strike was necessary because Damascus was preparing to allow Turkish forces to deploy at the airport, an allegation both the governments of Syria and Türkiye have denied.

During a separate event commemorating the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt in Bitlis, Erdogan condemned those profiting from terrorism and seeking regional instability. He characterized these opponents as "blood merchants" and "opportunists," framing the current "Century of Türkiye" and the "Terror-Free Türkiye" initiative as the start of a new era based on humanity and brotherhood.
