President Pezeshkian Declares Iran Is in Full-Scale War With U.S.

President Masoud Pezeshkian declared on Monday that Iran is engaged in a "full-scale war" with the United States, asserting that the conflict extends beyond missile strikes to target the Iranian economy and public livelihood. Speaking at a Supreme Judicial Council meeting, Pezeshkian warned that 88% inflation, poverty, and unemployment threaten social stability. He called for national unity to manage the crisis and maintained that previous negotiations with the U.S. involved no harmful concessions.

The declaration follows the collapse of a June memorandum of understanding intended to secure a peace deal after the February elimination of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during Operation Epic Fury. While Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is reportedly coordinating with ambassadors in Italy, France, and the United Kingdom to find mediators for a new deal, military tensions have surged.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced an escalation of attacks in the Persian Gulf and claimed control over the Strait of Hormuz. Simultaneously, U.S. Central Command reported continued strikes against Iranian military assets, while Iran claimed it targeted U.S.-used facilities in several regional countries.
