Nvidia and OpenAI Support Global Shift Toward Sovereign AI

Nations and organizations are transitioning toward Sovereign AI, a development phase where artificial intelligence systems are created and controlled within specific jurisdictions. This approach allows governments to align AI with local ethical standards and regulations while reducing geopolitical dependencies and risks to critical infrastructure.

Nvidia and OpenAI are providing the technical support necessary for entities to establish these autonomous capabilities. To facilitate this transition, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang organized a dedicated GTC event at the Viva Technology conference in Paris to educate stakeholders on curating national data and building local computation infrastructure.

Several leading countries have already launched sovereign AI initiatives. These include the United States, which started the Stargate project, as well as the United Kingdom, China, France, Denmark, and the United Arab Emirates. The shift reflects a growing view that AI has become a fundamental component of national security and strategic independence.
