Nigerian Political Leaders Clash Over Bola Tinubu's Governance

Political figures in Nigeria are sharply divided over the leadership and policy direction of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani defended the president's approach, arguing that Tinubu is prioritizing the long-term future of the country over his own political popularity. Sani stated that Tinubu is the first president willing to implement decisive and unpopular reforms, comparing Nigeria's current trajectory to the historical development of nations like South Korea, Singapore, and Brazil.

Conversely, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Chairman of the People Redemption Party, labeled Tinubu the worst leader in the history of Nigeria. Baba-Ahmed warned that the northern region would be finished if Tinubu wins the 2027 general elections, citing a profound disconnect between the government and the people.

Baba-Ahmed specifically criticized a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he alleged the president dismissed reports from Catholic bishops regarding hunger and insecurity. He argued that Tinubu's refusal to acknowledge these hardships demonstrates a failure to assess the real-world impact of his administration's policies.
