Nvidia and AMD Expand AI Hardware and Software Ecosystems

Nvidia secures an exclusive deal with SpaceX and launches new AI chips, while AMD partners with Anthropic to scale its agentic AI infrastructure.

The competition for AI hardware dominance has intensified as Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) deploy divergent strategies to capture the agentic AI market. Nvidia recently secured an exclusive agreement with Space Exploration Technologies Corp. to use its GPUs, further cementing its market lead. To expand its reach, Nvidia is targeting the $200 billion CPU market with the introduction of the Vera Rubin chip, designed specifically for AI inference and agentic workloads.

Nvidia is also focusing on software retention to increase switching costs for engineers. The company expanded its Agent Toolkit with PhysicsNeMo and CUDA-X libraries to automate quantum chemistry and physics simulations. Early adopters Samsung Electronics and Siemens report that these tools have significantly reduced costs and increased speeds in thermal analysis and chip library characterization.

Simultaneously, AMD is scaling its hardware stack through a multiyear partnership with Anthropic. This alliance includes a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion from AMD and the planned deployment of MI450 Series GPUs in early 2027. AMD is integrating Anthropic's Claude to optimize internal development and workloads, supported by the launch of its Helios rack-scale systems.
