Trump Vows to Block Democratic Legislation After Midterms

President Donald Trump stated he will act as a blocker against Democratic legislation if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November midterm elections.

President Donald Trump stated he will act as a "blocker" to obstruct Democratic legislation for two years if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November midterm elections. Speaking during a two-day midterm convention in Dallas, Trump indicated he would not campaign as aggressively for vulnerable Republicans as he did during the 2024 presidential race, citing fatigue with politics.

In a Fox News interview, Trump characterized a potential Democratic majority as "not as dire" as previously described, suggesting he could still strike deals with Democrats. This shift in tone follows previous warnings that a Democratic victory would pose a dangerous threat to American life. To incentivize voters, Trump proposed giving 5,000 dollars to every American adult if Republicans maintain congressional control.

Trump also addressed foreign policy and the economy, claiming that oil prices would drop once the current war with Iran ends, which he promised would happen shortly after the election. These comments come amid polling showing slipping approval ratings linked to the cost of living and the conflict in Iran. Prediction markets currently indicate an 86 percent chance of Democrats winning the House and a 52 percent chance of Republicans retaining the Senate.
