U.S. Establishes Syrian Airbase for Syria-Israel Security Pact

The United States is establishing a military presence at a southern Syrian airbase to facilitate a brokered security and non-aggression pact between Syria and Israel.

The United States is establishing a military presence at an airbase in southern Syria to support a security and non-aggression pact currently being brokered between Syria and Israel. The base will be located within a planned demilitarized zone near Damascus. While the U.S. military will operate the facility for intelligence, logistics, and humanitarian purposes, Syria will retain sovereignty over the territory.

The Pentagon accelerated preparations for the site over the last two months, deploying survey teams and conducting technical tests, including a C-130 transport aircraft landing, to verify the airstrip's viability.

These developments precede a historic meeting scheduled for Monday at the White House between Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. This meeting marks the first time a Syrian head of state will visit the White House.
