Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Bhogapuram International Airport August 1
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1 after the facility received all statutory clearances and immigration designations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1. The confirmation followed a high-level review meeting on July 18 led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to finalize arrangements for the event, which the state government intends to organize on a grand scale to showcase local tribal traditions and handicrafts.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu previously announced that construction was nearly complete and the facility was likely to open in August. The project, initiated in 2014 and constructed by GMR Group, has now received all eight required statutory clearances. Additionally, the Union Home Ministry formally recognized the site via a gazette notification under the Immigration and Foreigners Act-2025, designating it as a Category-1 airport and an official immigration checkpost.
Chief Minister Naidu stated that the airport will transform the economic landscape of North Andhra by catalyzing tourism, industrial development, and employment growth, specifically supporting the Visakha Economic Region.
