Nvidia Invests $3 Billion in Lancium Power Infrastructure
Nvidia is investing up to $3 billion in Lancium to secure power infrastructure and grid interconnections for AI data center expansion in Texas.
Nvidia Corporation is investing up to $3 billion in Lancium, a power infrastructure developer based in Abilene, Texas, to address electricity availability as a primary bottleneck for AI capacity expansion. The deal includes an initial $2 billion for a roughly 20% equity stake, with an additional $1 billion contingent on Lancium meeting specific goals, primarily the procurement of further grid interconnections.
Lancium operates the Lancium Clean Campus, which serves as the first site for Stargate, an AI infrastructure joint venture involving SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle. CEO Jensen Huang stated that land, power, and funding are the essential requirements for AI infrastructure.
Lancium intends to use the new capital to expand its operations. The company is also considering an initial public offering as early as 2027.
