NBBF Presidential Aspirants Petition Bola Tinubu Over Election Fraud
Three presidential aspirants have petitioned President Bola Tinubu to halt Nigeria Basketball Federation elections following allegations of delegate manipulation and constitutional breaches.
Three presidential aspirants for the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) have petitioned Bola Ahmed Tinubu to halt the electoral process for the 2026–2030 term. The petitioners—Igoche Mark, Olumide Oyedeji, and Ejike Ugboaja—allege that outgoing NBBF President Ahmadu Musa Kida manipulated the process to favor Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi.
The petition claims that over 15 state basketball association chairmen and delegates in states including Zamfara, Kaduna, and Edo were arbitrarily replaced with unqualified individuals. The aspirants allege these replacements were achieved through political influence and financial inducements shortly before the elective congresses.
Additionally, the candidates challenge the eligibility of Dr. Abdullahi to lead the federation, noting that his current role as Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria may violate Public Service Rules. The petitioners are urging the president to direct the National Sports Commission to investigate these constitutional breaches to ensure transparency and fairness in the election.
