Pakistan Army Chief Visits Tehran to Mediate Iran-US Tensions
Field Marshal Asim Munir visits Tehran to strengthen bilateral ties and mediate ongoing conflicts between Iran and the United States.
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, will visit Tehran on Monday for high-level meetings focused on bilateral cooperation and regional security. The visit follows a telephone conversation between Munir and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and is part of a broader effort by Pakistan to promote stability in the region.
Pakistan is currently acting as a mediator between Iran and the United States to reduce tensions regarding their ongoing conflict and a specific dispute over the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated the visit serves as a continuation of Pakistan's efforts to enhance regional peace.
These diplomatic engagements occur as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian describes Iran as being in a state of war, facing a comprehensive economic, military, and security struggle. Pezeshkian specifically cited the impact of United States sanctions and asserted that Iran has remained steadfast against American attempts to destabilize the country, comparing the U.S. strategy to efforts used in Venezuela.
