Trump to Meet Mining Executives to Expand Critical Minerals

President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend a roundtable meeting this Friday with top mining executives, hosted by the United States Department of State. The meeting serves as a core component of an administration strategy to expand domestic and allied supplies of critical minerals required for advanced technologies, energy, and national defense. The primary objective of these efforts is to reduce U.S. dependence on China for these essential resources.

In coordination with the diplomatic outreach, the U.S. Department of Energy is expected to host a workforce development event on Friday. This session will bring together representatives from all 14 accredited U.S. mining schools to address persistent talent shortages within the sector.

The National Mining Association expressed support for the administration's initiatives. Ashley Burke, representing the association, stated that the industry looks forward to working with the government on solutions to develop national resources, secure supply chains, and create a future mining workforce.
