Trump Rallies for Darline Graham in South Carolina Senate Runoff
President Donald Trump is campaigning for Senator Darline Graham as she faces Representative Ralph Norman in a Republican primary runoff election on August 25.
President Donald Trump is visiting Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on August 21 to hold a campaign rally for Senator Darline Graham at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Trump has provided his full endorsement of Graham, who is competing against U.S. Representative Ralph Norman in a Republican primary runoff to replace the late Senator Lindsey Graham. The winner of the August 25 runoff will advance to the November general election to face Democratic nominee Dr. Annie Andrews.
During a debate on August 19 at the Newberry Opera House, Graham and Norman clashed over foreign policy and legislative history. Graham accused Norman of delaying the passage of Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," while Norman defended his actions as an effort to eliminate energy subsidies for electric cars, solar, and wind power. Norman criticized Graham's lack of national security expertise, arguing that a Senate candidate should not be "get-trained-on-the-job."
To accommodate the presidential rally, the South Carolina Republican Party postponed a scheduled stump stop in Anderson to ensure both candidates could participate. Early voting for the runoff began Wednesday, August 19, and continues through Friday, August 21. While both candidates agree on reducing the national debt and prosecuting former White House adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, they remain divided on the future of Social Security and Medicare.
