Indian State Leaders Lead Tiranga Yatras Before 80th Independence Day

Chief Ministers Yogi Adityanath and Pushkar Singh Dhami led separate Tiranga Yatra processions on August 9 in Lucknow and Dehradun to build momentum for India's 80th Independence Day on August 15.

In Lucknow, Adityanath participated in a Bharatiya Janata Party event promoting the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with amending the flag code to allow residential displays of the national flag, contrasting the current policy with restrictions during the Congress era.

In Dehradun, Dhami participated in a similar procession, describing the current era as the Amrit Kaal. He stated that India is establishing itself as a global superpower through the Make in India initiative and indigenous technology. The 2026 celebrations also commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram and include rallies, exhibitions, and a selfie initiative.

Both leaders highlighted the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which was originally launched by the national government in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
