Lok Sabha Adjourned Amid Protests Over Anti-Paper Leak Bill

The Lok Sabha was adjourned until 2 PM on Thursday, July 30, after opposition protests disrupted the Question Hour. Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, suspended the session just two minutes after it began following a ruckus triggered by a speech from opposition leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

This disruption occurred during the ninth day of the monsoon session. The previous day, the Lok Sabha passed the anti-paper leak Bill via voice vote after a two-day debate. The legislation introduces stricter punitive measures to combat examination irregularities and is expected to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

The Bill's passage follows a period of significant unrest, including a 'Sansad Chalo' rally organized on July 20. Additionally, the Union Education Minister resigned on July 25 in the wake of the NEET paper leak case.
